The nature around us

Nordvestlandet Folk High School is located in Torvikbukt, which is right in the middle of amazing nature. Here in the area we have the opportunity for some of Norway's longest ski runs, from peak to fjord. We have the open sea and diving opportunities on the coast. We have quiet fjords, archipelagos and sharp peaks. Perhaps you're the person who doesn't like to walk so far, but would like to join us on a boat trip across Eikesdalsvatnet with a barbecue, good friends and stunning views. At the school, we facilitate fantastic nature experiences, regardless of form and interest.

Built for movement

The active village, Torvikbukt. Here there is a culture and facilities for movement. Perhaps the people of Torvik are also inspired by the nature around us, as we are located just below Nøssa, Reinsfjellet and Holtafjellet. Just an afternoon walk up and you have a view of the sea, Tustnastabbene sticking straight up out of the sea and Smøla with its windmills. If we turn around, we can see Trollheimen, Sunndalsfjella, Romsdalsalpene - a wealth of steep mountain peaks. Peaks we visit on our courses and electives. We have some of Norway's longest ski descents, from peak to fjord. We have snow in the mountains and on the ski slopes every winter. We have surfing beaches, mountains to climb, the northern lights, cross-country skiing trails, untouched powder snow, mountain lakes and streams from which we fill our bottles. There's a lot of nature to love.

In Torvikbukt, people are engaged and active, with around 400 permanent residents, the village has facilities such as a sports hall, beach volleyball courts, an 18-hole disc golf course and a grass pitch for football. The village has an active sports club, shooting club and football club with children's football, a small boat club and a charity association, all of which help to make Torvikbukt a wonderful place to live, with a wide range of leisure activities. Torvikbukt IL has activities throughout the year that pupils can take part in, such as climbing, fitness groups, disc golf and more.

An important meeting point in the local community is the local Joker store, where our students can get their groceries. The store is a 3-minute walk from the folk high school.

Facilities

We have excellent facilities for exercise, sports and outdoor life at Nordvestlandet Folk High School. In addition, there are very good opportunities at the school building for shaping activities and music. Around the buildings we have good common living rooms and lounges.

Grocery store

Emergence

The school is located midway between Kristiansund and Molde.
There are direct flights to both cities from Oslo. From the airports there is a bus to Batnfjordsøra (departures approximately every hour, but not late at night). From Batnfjordsøra you can take another bus to Torvikbukt or be picked up by the school when local buses are not available.
It takes about 45 minutes to travel from the airports to the school by public transport. Use the FRAM app to find details.
