Nordvestlandet Folk High School has a proud and traditional school history dating back to 1917. The venerable main building dates from 1923 and is the largest wooden building in Nordmøre. The school has five boarding houses, and together with lawns and pine trees, the various buildings form a compact and cozy school yard. Students live in double or single rooms, and the school has several common rooms and good facilities.

The boarding school is a good place to be - and to form new friendships. Staying at a boarding school is experienced by most students as very enjoyable and educational.

An environment to thrive in

Nordvestlandet Folk High School is known for its good social environment. The distance to city life helps to create an active, creative and inclusive school environment. The school wants to motivate and challenge students to a healthy and drug-free lifestyle. We want to build and maintain a safe and unifying student environment, free from alcohol and drugs.

Nordvestlandet FHS wants to be a school for everyone and has a remedial training program for students with extra challenges in everyday life. The school has an international program with students from many different countries, which contributes to a diverse school environment. The school has skilled staff with great personal commitment.

Professional offer

The school has a solid academic offering in creative subjects, sports and outdoor life. We have competent and experienced teachers who will work to ensure that you get the most out of your year at folk high school - professionally, personally and socially.
At the school, you have the main line on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. On Mondays and Tuesdays you have electives and some common subjects.

Personal growth, experiences and values

Folkehøgskole is a school for life. A folk high school year lasts for 185 hectic days. Personal growth and lots of experiences are central to what we convey to our students. The subjects and conversations (dialogues) are some of the tools we use to achieve these goals. Folkehøgskolen is exam-free and not tied to any curriculum. You are at the center!

Nordvestlandet Folkehøgskole is a Christian school based on the Christian core values. We want this to characterize the entire school. On a day-to-day basis, you will notice this in the morning assemblies and in some of the lessons we call "themes". The morning assemblies usually have Christian content. The other Christian meetings and activities are up to you if you want to take part. They are usually in the evening. We want the school to be a home for you, with a positive, safe and warm environment!
