Half-year course
Folk high school for half a year
Did you know that it's possible to spend half a year at folk high school instead of a full year? At Nordvestlandet Folk High School, we offer half-year courses in addition to full-year courses, both in the fall and spring semesters. This is typically suitable for those who are entering or leaving the military in the middle of the school year, who did not have time to apply for folk high school or other education, or who for other reasons only want half a year at folk high school. There are many great experiences to be had in just six months!
The half-year-course majors
On the half-year courses, you attend classes with students who attend full-year courses on the same major. You will therefore get to know the other students well, even though you spend less time at the school.
The program for the half-year-course is basically the same as for the year-round majors, with the exception that you spend less time at the school. Therefore, some of the experiences described on the major pages will not be available to you - depending on which half-year you spend at the school. Times for the 2025/2026 school year
Half-year course autumn starts August 23, 2025 and ends December 17
Our half-year course starts on January 7, 2026 and ends on May 15.

Board and lodging: 47,000,- (Double room. Supplement for single room and private bathroom.)

Powder Surf: 13,000 kr
Outdoor Activities Explore: 11,000 kr
Creative: 9,000 kr
Basecamp Northwest Norway: 13,000 kr
Sports Ball sports: 11,500 kr
Multisport: 11,500 kr
Norwegian citizens can apply for loans and grants from the loan fund. This covers approx. 75,875 NOK.
