At Nordvestlandet Folk High School, you can choose a study trip regardless of which class you are in! In November, the entire school has a travel period where you choose the program you find most interesting. This is a unique opportunity to get to know more of the students at the school and learn more about yourself and the world we live in.

International environment

At Northwestern Folk High School you will meet people from all over the world. Every school year we have students from Norway and many other countries such as the Netherlands, Germany, the USA, Denmark, the Philippines and Ecuador.

This helps create a unique school environment with great cultural fraternity. Throughout the school year, you will make new friends and networks from all over the world!

Because we have a large international environment, you will have plenty of opportunities to practice both English and Norwegian in a good community. All teachers speak Norwegian, of course, but much of the teaching will be in English throughout the school year in the classes that have international students.

The international students will receive instruction in Norwegian language, society and culture.

Location and facilities created for learning and experiences

Torvikbukt - The active village.
We are located just below Nøssa, Reinsfjellet and Holtafjellet. Just an afternoon walk up and you have a view of the sea. We are close to Trollheimen, Sunndalsfjella, Romsdalsalpene - a wealth of steep mountain peaks.

We have some of Norway's longest ski runs, from peak to fjord. We have snow in the mountains and on the ski trails every winter. We have surfing beaches, mountains to climb, northern lights, cross-country ski trails, untouched powder snow, mountain lakes and streams from which we fill our bottles.

There's a lot of nature to love here!
