Equipment list

You need a backpack for day trips and overnight trips. An ideal backpack for day trips is about 25-40 liters. A good backpack for overnight trips is 65-95 liters with straps to attach sleeping pads and the like to the outside of the backpack.

Backpack

You must have a three-season sleeping bag. This means that it is comfortable in temperatures down to zero degrees.
Sleeping pad that insulates well from the ground.

Sleeping bag and sleeping mat

You'll need a first aid kit with sports tape, chafing plasters, plasters/bandages, scissors etc.
You'll also need a riding helmet. Bring other safety equipment such as a back plate if you wish to use it.

First aid and safety

You need waterproof boots/high shoes that can be used in barns and mud and warm shoes that keep your feet warm in winter.

Shoes

You need good wind and waterproof clothing.
Clothes that can get dirty in the barn and working with the horses.
You need a hat, buff and good warm mittens.
You also need two sets of wool underwear and wool socks. Furthermore, you need one or thick wool sweater.
Insulated overalls are practical on the farm in winter.

Clothing

You don't need to buy your own skis. One week in January, the whole school goes to Oppdal for a winter activity week. Then you can rent skis or snowboards in the ski resort there.

Ski

You need a water bottle that can withstand boiling water (e.g. Nalgene). You'll also need a headlamp, dining set, thermos, knife, sunglasses and sunscreen.
